I want to raise a voice against living with inconvenience and normalizing it. It's a self inflicted pain that millions go through on a daily basis out of habit or social burden or just coz its always been that way.
Its small things that build over time. Like a broken door handle that you make do with or a TV remote that almost always requires a proper beating before it lets you watch what you want, or the chairs in some high end fashionable restaurants that kill your back and yet you don't ask for a better chair or a cushion. the thought of making ourselves comfortable sometimes feels like asking for too much. We have been taught to adjust, manage and scrape through life in discomfort, especially in the middle class.
But imagine a life where you are no longer inconvenienced by inconvenient things. Have the audacity to push your back all the way to the end of the sofa when you are visiting those richer relatives, in fact if you are feeling rebellious - put up one of your leg. Have the comfort of telling the barber that you need a cushion for your lower back. Get those squeaky doorknobs repaired. Tell the auto driver that he is not Keanu Reeves from the real life version of the movie Speed and the auto won't blast if he reduces the speed a little.
Less than 10% of our life is made up of magnanimous beautiful moments like marriage, child birth, first love, second love, third love and so on, etc. while the remaining 90% is made up of such small inconsequential moments. so if you choose not to be happy in the little things on a daily basis, you are miserable 90% of the times.
And don't let anyone tell you that you are picky, quirky, nitpicky, snob, first-world-problems, etc. as long as you are not using them as a chair or human carpet.
Live life comfortably.
